April Black Designs
After graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Summer 2016, April set up a small business based in her studio just outside of Dundee. In 2020 she moved to a village outside Stirling where she continues to take her inspiration from the outdoors, in particular mountains, and traditional craft, making personalised papercut designs which are hand cut with a scalpel.
Having originally trained in jewellery and metal design with a degree show featuring wood turned vessels inlayed with silver and copper, April occasionally creates bowls and wearable pieces using these methods. Her degree show inspiration came from researching the positive benefits that the outdoors can have on mental health, a subject that still continually inspires.
April enjoys working with customers to create bespoke pieces to suit their ideas and budget. Lead times can be as little as two weeks depending on the design.
