Born in Gateshead, Katherine studied graphic design at Newcastle college and moved to Glasgow in 2004 to work as a graphics artist/magazine designer. The launch of The Canny Squirrel was quite an organic process sparked by a combination of her love of animals and a free motion embroidery technique discovered on a textile design evening course. In 2013 Katherine left her job to launch her textile business.
