Linda Newman Ceramics

Linda Newman is a Glasgow based ceramicist working under Linda Newman Ceramics, creating functional stoneware home and tableware rooted in a deep love of clay, making, and the tactile process of wheel-throwing. Her practice centres on working slowly and thoughtfully with stoneware, valuing the material for its strength, versatility, and suitability for everyday use.

Inspired by cooking, shared meals, and daily rituals, Linda makes durable, long-lasting pieces designed to be used and enjoyed as part of the home. She is drawn to simple, balanced forms that allow the marks of making to remain visible, paired with carefully developed glazes mixed in her studio. Through testing and refining her own glaze recipes, she aims to create surfaces that are warm, practical, and responsive to both form and use.

This approach reflects her interest in sustainability, favouring small-batch production and materials chosen for longevity rather than trend. Working from her studio in Glasgow, Linda balances making with teaching and has recently expanded her studio to offer small, hands-on pottery taster lessons focused on wheel-throwing. Teaching has become an important extension of her practice, allowing her to share skills, encourage curiosity around ceramics, and support the ongoing sustainability of her studio.
