HooperHart
HooperHart was established by Cal Scott in 2015. Since graduating in 1997 from Edinburgh College of Art with a BA Hons in Design & Applied Arts, Cal has worked in various media including ceramics, graphic design and textiles. Driven by a long-held interest in printmaking and a love of colour and surface pattern, Cal taught herself to screenprint in 2015, primarily printing on plywood, which gradually developed into an interest in layering but using wooden layers rather than printed layers. She now uses these techniques, also incorporating painting and collage, in the creation of laser cut and handcrafted wooden dioramas. Influenced by memories from childhood and her time working on stage sets in the theatre, these ever-evolving designs have grown out of a desire to create little contained, immersive worlds in three dimensions, inspired by scenes (real and imaginary) from around the British Isles.
