Carol Sinclair Ceramics
Carol Sinclair is a ceramic artist working in porcelain, using her signature inlay technique to add colour and pattern to her pieces. She hand-builds with slabs which are first decorated then shaped while they are still very soft to achieve her rounded and asymmetric forms.
Moving from the city to a semi rural location in Angus eight years ago has changed the focus and purpose of her work. She aims to be as sustainably as she can be, and her inlay technique was developed to get the maximum impact from a minimal amount of colouring stains. Her pieces tell stories of people and places and the natural environment that we share. Her studio looks out to the foothills of the Cairngorms which offer daily inspiration.
Carol makes one-off and limited edition collections of sculptural bottles, vases and vessels, as well as plates, bowls and dishes. Each piece is completely unique with its own individual combination of colours and pattern, composed slowly and with care. Determined to use every piece of her inlaid porcelain to make the best use of precious resources, Carol also makes a range of jewellery pieces - earrings, necklaces and brooches.
