Taffled threads
Claire of Taffled threads is a handwoven textile designer who is passionate about telling a story through cloth. Using natural fibres her work consists of contemporary tartan designs and limited edition fabrics that are woven into scarves and blankets or turned into decorative and functional items.
Woven in small production runs, Claire strives to produce high quality handcrafted items that reflect the traditions of Scotland's weaving heritage.
A graduate of the Scottish College of Textiles and with over ten years experience as a textile designer within the Scottish textiles industry, Claire tries to push the boundaries of the loom to explore the possibilities of the twill structure to create a variety of designs from the textured to the geometric block twills using a 16 shaft loom.
Inspiration takes many forms but Claire is particularly drawn to surface patterns, textures and colours that surround us in our everyday lives.
As well as designing her own collections, Claire also loves to work on commissions.
