ploterre is based in edinburgh and is the moniker of rebecca j kaye. inspired by the outdoors, ploterre explores the natural world through a combination of mathematics and design.
ploterre creates artwork from environmental data, which are then produced as limited edition prints. the environment is not only the focus of the designs but also central to the materials and processes used.
traditional, small run printing methods and processes have been chosen with care and respect for the environment in mind. this includes substituting acrylic for water based inks and eliminating plastic from the screen printing process. other methods such as risograph have been chosen specifically for its environmental credentials as their inks are manufactured from soy beans and their is very little waste during the printing process.
in addition to the processes, all materials have been carefully selected and locally sourced and produced in the UK. the paper is made in a traditional Yorkshire mill and the frames are made in a mill in Shropshire. even the packaging is made locally and all our products are FSC accredited and 100% recyclable.
