PickOne

Established in 1997 the award winning PickOne has been producing innovative hand woven collections for both the apparel and interiors markets. Fabrics are hand woven on a 32 shaft computerised Megado, marrying contemporary craft practice with traditional techniques and past collections have utilised beautiful soft merino lambs wool and Shetland yarns to evoke the Scottish land and seascapes that inform and inspire.

Current collections are all hand woven to an exceptionally high standard with colour choices taken from a recent trip to Chennai, India and this collection reflects the vibrancy and energy of place when combined with PickOnes own complex weave structures. This is the first collection woven outside of the signatory yarn of choice, Merino lambs wool and it is in part a response to those who feel wearing wool a challenge, with the current collection being woven in a fine cottolin - a yarn mix of cotton and linen.

The name behind the brand James Donald was presented a life time achievement award in early 2020 for services to weaving by the Worshipful Company of Weavers.

As well as developing a successful creative weave practice James also leads popular weekend weave classes, a regular weekly evening class and a raft of speciality weave workshops from his Edinburgh, Leith based studio.
