Morag Macpherson

Morag Macpherson makes unique artwear clothing and limited edition accessories from her home and garden cottage studio just outside Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway.
Originally from Glasgow, with a background as a Graphic Artist, Morag has been a self employed full-time Textile Artist for 17 years.
She enjoys the process of concepts, photography, line drawing and digital design to produce collections of surface pattern creations available as limited edition products (cushions and scarves) on fabrics such as organic cotton, linen, hemp, silk and fine wool.
Morag is happiest reusing and repurposing to strive for a zero waste, sustainably produced clothing range of patchworked unique artwear. Low waste shapes such as kimono-style jackets, coats and robes sit alongside wraparound skirts, utility kilts and dresses.
Recently Morag has been awarded Creative Scotland grants to investigate a more sustainable range of fabrics using techniques such as natural dyeing, eco-printing, screen and mono-printing and block printing.
Previously Morag has exhibited all over the world, stocked department stores, worked on hotel projects, worked alongside world-renowned interior designers and collaborated with international artists on mural art, collage and fashion projects.
Morag enjoys organising fashion shoots and has recently made a fashion film in collaboration with Coulson & Tennant, as Artist in Residency with local Chrichton Carbon Centre project at Peatland Connections.
