Metallium Jewellery (formarly Karen Smith Jewellery & Metal Design) was established in 2013 by Jewellery designer/maker Karen Smith.
Karen has over 20 years’ experience in the jewellery trade, is a graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design and has worked for several jewellery companies in Scotland, Canada and Holland.
Drawing inspiration for her jewellery from all aspects of life, songs, stories, and the magic to be found in the everyday. Karen’s work focuses on universal storytelling symbols, such as locks, keys and hearts; encouraging the wearer to infuse the piece with deeper meaning and wear their stories as they wear the jewellery.
Devoted to tradition, each piece is designed and handcrafted by Karen in her workshop in Dundee Scotland using time-honoured jewellery making techniques.
Karen enjoys creating wearable Jewellery which is individual, interesting to look at and heirlooms of the future.
Karen is also passionate about passing on the jewellery making skills and experience she has gained over the years and teaches both one to one jewellery making classes from beginners to advanced as well as jewellery making night classes at Dundee & Angus College.
