KT New Jewelllery

Katie New, born in London, now living and working in Dundee. Katie graduated from DJCAD in 1999 and has spent over 20 years designing, making and teaching jewellery. Returning to Dundee in 2018 Katie created an exciting venue, in an Orangery, for jewellery classes. Katie grows plants that inspire her collections, sometimes using them directly to create pieces.

Katie is passionate about making and exploring jewellerys impact. The collections are inspired by our connection to nature and often influenced by Japanese aesthetics. Katies passion for Japanese culture, stemmed from visiting traditional Japanese craft artisans in their workshops in Japan and hosting Japanese Craftspeople visiting the UK.
Katie New is a registered fair trade goldsmith. The pieces celebrate nature and sustainable practices and materials are integral to KTNewJewellery,

Nature has a strong tradition in jewellery, the contemporary KT New pieces celebrate organic patterns with new forms that twist and wrap to be beautiful to wear. The delicate leaf structures embossed into silver form a signature style exploring the duality of fragility and strength in nature. This is echoed in the ephemeral leaf and contrasting durable precious metal. The balance of material, process and creation is part of the visual poetry and storytelling held in each piece. Creating innovative pieces that are enjoyed and admired is at the heart of each crafted work.
