Katie loves to draw her constantly changing natural surroundings. Her artwork, homeware and accessories all echo the layers of pattern, colour and the tiny details she likes to get lost in, bringing her natural surroundings inside to your home.

It all starts with a drawing – Katie enjoys capturing what she's spotted on her daily dog walks with pencil and watercolour, using various techniques to recreate the chaos of the nature she's inspired by. The drawings work hard, becoming prints and cards, beautiful patterns on fabrics, finally being lovingly handmade by Katie into cushions, bags, lampshades and more.

A drawing or a cushion or lampshade that reminds someone of their garden or a favourite walk, the smell of their favourite flowers, an insect, bird or even the orchard they keep their bees. Katie hopes her pieces spark happy memories and inspire you to explore the great outdoors.It was only after her children were born that Katie started drawing again, as a way of gaining some head space in her chaotic home. This sparked something and reignited her making and so katiebirdie was born.

Katie loves to find all the hidden little details and colours on insects, birds and other nature that she comes across on her daily travels and beyond. The hairy legs of a bee or the amazing jewel-like colours hidden in a starling until the light shines on it in just the right way. She then captures these intricacies with a super sharp pencil and her watercolours.

She also uses her drawings to turn into silk screen prints with bold blocks of colour and patterns which are digitally printed onto a range of fabrics. These she uses to hand make a range of home ware and accessories including cushions, lampshades, bags and scarves.
