Edinburgh based Freckle + Hide transforms leather reclaimed from old and unwanted leather sofas into one of a kind bags, wallets, laptop cases, homeware and accessories. These sofas are often sad and disheartened when Kat rescues them: they have just been replaced by a newer model, with smoother skin and plumper cushions. But with a little bit of TLC, a wash and a massage, the beauty of the leather shines through.

Each product is carefully cut out by hand and either hand-stitched with waxed linen thread or sewn using a hand-cranked vintage singer sewing machine. Kat incorporates other reclaimed and repurposed fabrics such as denim, offcuts from the kiltmaking process and upholstery samples into her designs and even sources pre-loved zips where possible.

In an age where even high-end products are mass-produced, Freckle + Hide wants to be an antidote to identical, shop-bought bags and accessories which are lacking in personality. She wants to make you something completely unique that will make your best friend jealous!
