Caroline Finlay

Caroline is based in Dunfermline where she has a studio in an old Fire Station.
The unpredictable nature and untamed beauty of the Scottish coastline and landscape is Caroline’s constant source of inspiration. Designs are informed by the textures, colours, shapes and light she finds there and the emotions they evoke. Caroline mainly uses silver and enamel in her contemporary jewellery. Enamel allows her to introduce colour into her work and she uses a palette that echoes her inspiration.
Caroline explores jewellery making and enamelling techniques to create mark making and form. Each stage is made by hand; she prefers the fluidity this gives her work; nothing is identical. She enjoys the connection this gives her with each piece and the spontaneity that experimenting with enamel allows.
More recently Caroline has introduced printmaking into her practice. Her etchings, screenprints and monoprints are inspired by her natural surroundings as well as the coastline. Caroline has exhibited her work widely in the UK as well as internationally.
