Anais Bansal Metalsmith

Anais Bansal is a metalsmith designing and making in her Glasgow studio. Her work focuses on using traditional decorative metal techniques such as repoussé and chasing to create handmade door furniture for buildings—think decorative number plates, key escutcheons, and beyond.

Anais has been honing her skills as a metalworker for the past ten years, working and training across various artistic disciplines, from film, television, opera, and ballet to traditional metal crafts within the built environment.

Through these experiences, Anais’ own body of work has evolved, with a focus on creating pieces of high quality and lasting permanence, while showcasing traditional craftsmanship. She has developed a modern, sleek hand-chased range of door furniture inspired by Glasgow’s original tenement number plates, which still exist today.

Each plate is cut, pressed, chased, textured, cleaned, patinated, and finished by hand in her Glasgow studio, available in a range of styles and finishes.
