Small daily actions can help us cut back on plastic pollution and combat climate change. One significant step is to ditch plastic cling film for a re-useable food wrap.
Inspired to create a re-usable food wrap after seeing similar products on a trip to New Zealand, Bplasticfree was founded in 2018 with our first wraps launched in June 2019.
The wraps, called Waxys, are made from organic Indian cotton printed with unique designs in Bradford and coated with vegan-friendly wax by Dundee specialists Halley Stevensons, a historic business that's been trading for over 150 years.
Unlike beeswax wraps Waxyz don't have any smell or sticky residue and are perfect for wrapping sandwiches, cheese, bread and leftovers. To care for your Waxyz after use wash them in warm soapy water then rinse under the cold tap before leaving them to dry naturally for about 20 minutes. If cared for properly, Waxyz will last for more than a year and can be recycled in your compost bin or as an ideal fire-lighter for a bbq.
Waxyz range of designs are bright, colourful and gender-neutral. They can be bought in a range of sizes and also on a roll, so that they can be cut to the preferred size.
It's also possible for businesses to have Waxyz branded with their own logo to maintain customer loyalty and highlight their green credentials.
